I have the sad task of letting everyone in the BHRA family know that Hannah, a senior BHRA rescue who was lucky enough to be adopted by Jacqueline Whitehorn four years ago, went to the rainbow bridge this morning in Jacqueline's arms.  Hannah told her it was time...she was diagnosed just a short few weeks ago with cancer that had taken over her body.  For the past few weeks, Jacqueline made her as comfortable as possible, spoiling her even more (if that was even possible) knowing Hannah would tell her when she was ready.  As you can imagine, Jacqueline is devastated and asked me to post to everyone since she cannot muster the words right now.

Hannah was truly a character!  She was the most wonderful combination of stubborn--a girl who knew what she wanted and didn't hesitate to demand it-- and a real clown who could at once make you laugh and draw you into her soulful eyes to literally wrap you around her paw.  She had such an amazing personality and simply lit up a room when she was in it.  She had this adorable little spin she would do when she was happy, which was always, and we came to call her Spinny Girl.  She could make you laugh and she knew it.  Hannah came to BHRA already a senior (somewhere around ten years old and already gray in the muzzle), and Earl and I had the true pleasure of fostering her twice.  We cried when she got adopted the first time, and when that didn't work out, immediately agreed to take her back into foster.  She almost never left us, but we knew she would have a fabulous life with the Whitehorns.  The day I handed her over to Jacqueline at a BHRA bash, I sobbed buckets, all the way back down to Mobile.  Over the years, the few times we did get to see her again, her gentle eyes, wiggling butt, wagging tail, and more importantly, her immediately exposed tummy for her much deserved and much loved belly rubs gave me joy as it did anyone who knew her.  Her many antics and quirky personality have been posted on the Daily Drool over the years, and that girl was simply spoiled rotten and given four wonderful, much loved years at the Whitehorns house of senior hounds.

So goodbye sweet gentle Hannah Banana--you will be sorely missed and always remembered.

Please think of Jacqueline, a long time friend of BHRA, this evening as Hannah's star shoots across the sky toward the Bridge, where she will join her sisters Jake and Millie who have been waiting for her.
