Devon came to me about 4 years ago from the Anniston shelter covered in his own waste. Elaine Wright pulled him from the shelter and met Janiece who got him to me. I brought him and bathed him, cut his nails and let him out with our own dogs. It took 3 days before he would get near me again. He went a few days later to get his vet work done and then I picked him up from the vet and I could tell he remembered me. That made me feel good. In the coming months, Devon and I bonded like Velcro. He stayed at my side no matter where I went here in the house. In the fall of that same year, I asked to adopt him and it has been a bond like I have never experienced with another dog in my life. He went on road trips with me and was always a gentleman. He never trusted folks much but while it took several years, he loved Everett too and learned to ask for loving from him and would get on the couch with Everett to snuggle with him. Devon was diagnosed with lymphoma about a month ago. I found enlarged lymph nodes on him the day that Sally Sue went to the bridge. In about a week from that day which was a Sunday, he was diagnosed. He was put on prednisone and took his meds well all this time. But the past few days has been hard on him. Devon will be soooooooo missed and the one thing I am thankful of is that he no longer suffers. RIP sweet Devon.
